Still Doubles?

For a moment last year 2007 when Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong won All England, Swiss Open few super series, Malaysian started to expect them for our country first olympic Gold Medal in Beijing 2008. Listen, is Gold Medal !!! But the inconsistent form of world number four Kien Keat-Boon Heong in the just concluded Thomas Cup Finals at the Istora Senayan here has poured cold water on Malaysia's hopes. And the injury-prone Tan Fook-Wan Wah may find the going tough in their last outing at the Olympics against formidable pairs, among them South Koreans Jung Jae-sung-Lee Yong-dae, Chinese Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng, Danes Jonas Rasmussen-Lars Paaske and Indonesian world champions Markis Kido-Hendra Gunawan. So men doubles will be the most competative category compare to others. Can our national pair hold on their nerve to fight for glory? I am sure all Malaysian are looking forward to it.While Malaysia have lots of work to do, mainly in the mental readiness of the players, China showed in winning both the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup that they are good for a sweep of all five Olympic gold medals in badminton. But that is for the team so in single catogory, the chance has become equal and everyone stand a chance to win too as long as their performance on that day can go extra mile. Hope all Badminton Fans can view their opinion on the men doubles in Beijing 2008 !

Who is the Champ?

After the Thomas Cup, now the next huge event of Badminton will be the Beijing 2008. Who will crown the gold medal in Beijing? Who will be the men single champion? From recent performances of the shuttlers in international tournaments, Malaysia's chances of landing a gold medal in the Beijing Games are now better in the men's singles. Lee Chong Wei would be our biggest hope for our medal. Can he defeat Lin Dan again? This would be the hot topic on this Beijing 2008. But don't forget about last year World Badminton Championship..When we put too high expectation on Chong Wei, he eventually lost to Bao Chun Lai in the quater final. So there are not just one competators named Lin Dan only. They are Bao Chunlai and Chen Jin. Among the others seen as contenders for medals are South Korean Park Sung-hwan and Dane Peter Gade-Christensen. Can Malaysia Badminton players grab any medals in Beijing 2008? Let's discuss and comment it..........
